Car Insurance Chevrolet (Car Insurance). Why is my '95 Sebring still overheating? Why is my '95 Sebring still overheating? (V6 2.5L Motor)Just had the water pump replaced. The thermostat is straight through. My fans are connected to a toggle switch. When the car warms up to normal temp, 5 to 10 min later the "check engine" light comes on. The temp is still reading normal at this time. The more i accelerate, the higher the temp goes. The hoses compress, and the overflow res. will bubble over. That's the only way I loose any coolant. I don't get any white exhaust smoke, nor is my oil milky whatsoever. I agree that it sounds like air in the system. Bleed off the air and the problem should be solved. I've had this problem on other cars too. The cooling systems on them engines are air tight you have to get all the air out. There should be a bleed screw by the thermostat. SOunds like u have air in ur system. With the car running there should b a bleeder valve on the top of the motor open it up and let Air out while its running, replace the thermostat if not already just to b on the safe side. lmk you forgot the radiator. it could be partly clogged up. a clogged radiator can make the hoses squeeze shut. Would this give me 4-corner idle control on my 750 Holley carb............? Would this give me 4-corner idle control on my 750 Holley carb............? I have a 525 HP Boss 351 Cleveland swapped into an '86 Thunderbird. The engine idles at 1,400 RPM with about 6-6.5" of vacuum. The cam is a Cam Dynamics grind with 266/276 @ .050 and .616/.642 lift on 108 centers.....(maybe 106's... I used to run this motor with a "Glide and a brake.) Anyhow, even with 5/16th's holes drilled in the primary throttle blades and the idle mixture screws backed out 6 turns (there's no screw left in the fuel passageway!! The 8itch is free-flowing idle fuel!!) it wants more idle fuel. I'm thinking of borrowing a primary metering block from one of the 600's on my tunnel ram set-up, and using it as a secondary metering block in the back of the 750. Chevrolet . How to Repair New Car BumpersThe new car bumpers of today comprise the bumper cover, or "fascia," which is designed to absorb the first impact during a collision by bending. Sometimes, however, the bumper fascia is smashed so hard that it is dented, cracked or punctured. As long as the bumper still resembles its former state and is not torn in two, you can repair it at home. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Gray scuff pad Wax/grease cleaner 24-, 80-, 180-grit sandpaper Air compressor Plastic repair reinforcing tape Paintbrush Adhesion promoter Wire mesh Wire cutters Bonding adhesive Carbide burr Body filler Putty knife Flexible bumper sealer Flexible bumper primer surfacer Bumper color coat 320-, 400-grit wet/dry sandpaper Step by Step : 1 Scour both sides of the bumper cover with a gray scuff pad and a wax/grease removing cleaner. Rinse well and watch what happens to the rinse water; when the water beads on the bumper, it needs some extra scrubbing. The bumper is clean when the water runs off of the surface. 2 Remove the finish from the cover with 80-grit sandpaper, working in a circular motion across the front of the bumper. Grind off any plastic snarls around both the front and back of any damaged areas with 24-grit sandpaper. 3 Blow all of the sanding dust away with an air compressor, and then tape the bumper back into shape if it has been cracked, and tape over the back of any gouges or holes. Drill an 1/8-inch hole into the end of a crack to keep it from growing larger, then brush a coat of adhesion promoter to the back of the damaged area(s) with a paintbrush. Let it dry for 10 minutes. 4 Cut out a piece of wire mesh with wire cutters, making it large enough to cover the back of the damage and extend 1 inch beyond the gap on all sides. Smear bonding adhesive over the taped gaps, extending 2 inches around the gaps. Press the wire mesh into the adhesive and cover the mesh with another layer of adhesive. Let the bumper dry completely. 5 Grind out a groove along the front of the damage with a carbide burr, cutting halfway through the bumper cover and making it 2 inches wide if possible. Blow the plastic scraps away with compressed air. 6 Squirt body filler into the groove, filling it completely and then pressing out the air bubbles with a putty knife. Smooth and then allow the filler to dry. Once the filler has dried, sand the area with 80-grit sandpaper and then sand it smooth with 180-grit sandpaper. Blow the dust away once more with an air compressor. 7 Spray a coat of flexible bumper sealer to prepare the bumper cover for paint and to protect the repaired areas. Apply a coat of flexible bumper primer surfacer to the front of the bumper once the sealer is dry. 8 Spray the front of the bumper with a bumper color coat the matches the bumper's previous finish. Find the proper color match at an auto supply store. Let the bumper dry, and then wet sand it with 320-grit sandpaper. Rinse well and let it dry again. 9 Paint and sand the bumper 4 more times, and then replace the 320-grit sandpaper for 400-grit sandpaper after applying yet another coat. Spray the bumper with a finishing coat of paint and refrain from sanding. Let the paint dry for at least 12 hours before driving the vehicle.
Chevrolet . How to Fix a Bumper CoverA bumper cover is meant to absorb the first impact during a collision, which means it is likely to incur damage in an accident. Driving around in a beat-up car is unsightly and embarrassing. Fixing a damaged bumper cover at home instead of taking it to a repair shop will save you money, and the bumper will be looking as good as new by the next day. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Wax/grease removal cleaner Gray scuff pad 80-grit sandpaper Carbide burr Air compressor Plastic repair reinforcing tape 1/8-inch drill Hot air gun Screwdriver Rubber mallet Paintbrush Adhesion promoter Wire cutters Wire mesh Bonding adhesive Body filler Putty knife Flexible bumper sealer Flexible bumper primer surfacer Bumper color coat 320-, 400-grit wet/dry application sandpaper Step by Step : 1 Strip grease and grime off of the bumper with a wax/grease cleaner and a gray scuff pad. If the water beads when rinsed, clean the bumper again. The bumper is clean enough for repairs when the water runs off of the bumper. 2 Sand the entire bumper with 80-grit sandpaper, taking care not to change the contour of the bumper, then scrape any rough plastic around the damage away with a carbide burr. Clean the dust from the bumper with compressed air. 3 Tape the back of any holes and cracks to bring the bumper back to its original shape and create a base for repairs. Drill an 1/8-inch hole at the ends of any cracks to keep them from enlarging. Blow the plastic debris away with compressed air. 4 Heat the back of any dents with a hot air gun until the plastic is hot enough to press back into shape with the handle of a screwdriver. Hammer any dents out of a metal bumper cover with a rubber mallet. 5 Brush a small amount of adhesion promoter to the back of a hole or crack with a paintbrush and wait 10 minutes for it to set up. Spend the 10 minutes using wire cutters to cut out a piece of wire mesh large enough to cover the back of a hole or crack and overlap 2 inches on all sides. 6 Spread a bonding adhesive onto the back of the damage and then push the wire mesh piece into the bonding adhesive with a putty knife. Apply more adhesive over mesh to ensure a firm hold when it dries. Allow 2 hours for the adhesive to dry. 7 Cut a groove with a carbide burr along the front of the damage once the back has been sealed. Blow the debris away with an air compressor and then paint on a coat of adhesion promoter to this and any other dented areas on the bumper. Allow 10 minutes for the adhesion promoter to dry. 8 Fill the front groove and any dents or scratches with body filler and press it smooth with a putty knife. Let the filler dry for at least 20 minutes. Sand with 80-grit sandpaper until the filler contours with the bumper. Clean the dust off with compressed air. 9 Seal both the front and the back of the bumper cover with a thick layer of flexible bumper sealer to keep the repairs from damage. Apply a coat of flexible bumper primer surfacer to the front of the bumper to aid with paint adhesion. Step by Step : 10 Spray bumper color coat across the front of the bumper and allow at least 30 minutes for it to dry. Wet sand with 320-grit wet/dry sandpaper, rinse and let dry. Step by Step : 11 Repeat the previous step 3 times. Spray once more but wet sand with 400-grit wet/dry sandpaper instead of 320-grit. Spray on a final thin coat of bumper color coat and let it dry for 12 hours. *A triggering mechanism inside the distributor — or on the crankshaft — controls the timing of the ignition module. On some vehicles, this is a magnetic pulse generator called a pick-up coil. Other vehicles use a Hall-Effect switch or a photoelectric sensor inside the distributor to trigger the module. It probably doesn't make much difference which type your vehicle has, because there's no need for you to develop a personal relationship with it. Part II: What Makes It Go?. Other parts found only on distributorless ignition systems Distributorless ignition systems also use a solid-state ignition module, along with the following additional electronic parts (refer to Figure 5-10): t* A crankshaft sensor is a trigger device that tells the ignition module when to fire the spark plugs. V A camshaft sensor, found on some distributorless ignition systems, is a trigger device that synchronizes when the proper ignition coil should be fired. Other Electrical Gadgets The alternator also supplies the electrical current for the sound system, headlights, taillights, directional signals, defroster, heater, air conditioner, and other electrical gadgets via electrical wiring under the dashboard. 285

They are located in a fuse box that is usually found under or near the dashboard. Your owner's manual should show you where the fuse box on your vehicle is, or you can crawl under the dashboard and trace the wires from your sound system until you reach the fuse box. See Chapter 12 for instructions on checking fuses and replacing a burnt-out fuse. Windshield wipers need to be checked and replaced periodically. Chapter 3 provides tips on checking and replacing your windshield wipers.and windshield washer fluid. * Directional signal flashers on your dashboard do more than tell you whether the directional signals are flashing. They also are designed to provide clues to malfunctions elsewhere on your car! Chapter 20 tells you how to decipher these clues and rectify the problems that they indicate. Chevrolet . Chapter 6 The Fuel System: The Heart and Lungs of Your Car In This Chapter • Chevrolet . How trasportation will be in the future?
by a flying carpet * Getting familiar with basic fuel system parts • Understanding how carbureted and fuel-injected systems deliver fuel to the engine • Understanding how the four-stroke power cycle creates the power needed to drive the engine The fuel system, shown in Figure 6-1, stores and delivers fuel to the combustion chambers of the engine so that it can be burned efficiently. Although most fuel systems have some basic components in common, fuel systems do vary: Some employ fuel injectors to get the fuel to the engine, and others rely on carburetors. (If your vehicle has a diesel engine, be sure to read Chapter 7 as well.) Chevrolet . How do you release pressure from putting in too much refrigerant in a car?
Let it drain out. It will overfill, just let it drain. * In this chapter, I introduce you to both carbureted and fuel-injected systems as I trace the flow of fuel from the fuel tank to the engine block. When you know what each part does and where to find it, it's easy to see how all the parts work together to provide your vehicle with "GO power." If a picture is worth a thousand words, actually looking at and maybe even touching something is worth a thousand pictures. If possible, take this book out to your car, open the hood, and visit with the parts of the fuel system as you read about them. When you encounter terms in special type that are unfamiliar to you, you can find out all about them in the glossary at the end of this book. 106 Chevrolet .
